I Will Praise Your Name For Ever And Ever - Prayer Monday

There are two things that God honors above all else, according to the Bible: His name and His Word.

“I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever… for you have exalted above all things your name and your word” (Ps. 145:1; Ps. 138:2).

When we are to pray, it is good to remember this.

Praying isn’t a one way street.

It isn’t just a chance to tell God what we think.

Or want, or need.

Or who we are.

God already knows all this.

Praying is the opportunity to know what God thinks, wants or needs.

And who God is.

To do this, it’s good to remember that we are to exalt God’s name.

And to praise it.

To remember that He is worthy of your praise, even His name is to be exalted above everything else.

“Dear God, let me exalt Your name! You are worthy of my praise. Your name is above everything else in this world. You alone stand higher than all creation. I praise Your name and Your Word! You are marvelous to my eyes and Your Word is a refuge to my heart. Thank You for allowing me to kneel beside Your feet to exalt You. Amen!”

This message is part of the Prayer Monday series.

  1. Yes, well said. Prayer is about intimacy of Jesus--such a precious thing.

  2. Some of my favorite times in prayer are the silences. Where I just sit and enjoy His presence. What a wonder it is, indeed. Thank you for linking at Unforced Rhythms.

    1. I love the silence but I also struggle with it. It feels like my head fills so easily with all kind of chatter. It is a glorious moment to be able to just be in His presence, just like you said. And I loved to be part of the link-up :)

  3. My son and I were on the swings and he asked me, "Mom, why doesn't God talk?" I was so blessed with the opportunity to talk to Him about how when we pray He hears us and all of the different ways the Lord does speak to us. He was quiet for a few seconds and then began to pray, "God, please fill me with your love and speak to my heart." No joke. He is such a precious boy. I was so honored to share that moment with him!

    1. Thank you for sharing the moment with me! I agree, my son asks me such insightful questions and sometimes it's hard to find the right answer. I really have to pray for wisdom to lead him correctly and to be able to show how amazing God is and how much He really loves us!
