There are two things
that God honors above all else, according to the Bible: His name and His Word.
“I will exalt you, my
God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever… for you have exalted
above all things your name and your word” (Ps. 145:1; Ps. 138:2).
When we are to pray,
it is good to remember this.
Praying isn’t a one
way street.
It isn’t just a
chance to tell God what we think.
Or want, or need.
Or who we are.
God already knows all
this.
Praying is the
opportunity to know what God thinks, wants or needs.
And who God is.
To do this, it’s good
to remember that we are to exalt God’s name.
And to praise it.
To remember that He
is worthy of your praise, even His name is to be exalted above everything else.
“Dear God, let me
exalt Your name! You are worthy of my praise. Your name is above everything
else in this world. You alone stand higher than all creation. I praise Your name
and Your Word! You are marvelous to my eyes and Your Word is a refuge to my
heart. Thank You for allowing me to kneel beside Your feet to exalt You. Amen!”
