Remember Your Holiness and Goodness - Prayer Monday

How can we use God’s Word when we pray?

God has made many promises to us.

But even more important than knowing these promises.

Is to know God’s heart and who He is.

David was “a man after His (God’s) own heart,” as 1 Samuel 13:14 describes him.

When David prayed, he pleaded to God according to what he knew to be true about the Lord from His Word:

“Remember, O Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old… according to your love remember me, for you are good, O Lord.”
Ps. 25:6-7

Is it presumptuous to remind God of His own Word?

The Lord wants us to claim His love.

To plead His holiness, remind Him of His goodness.

To recount His longsuffering, present to Him His steadfastness.

And to pray in His power.

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord.”
Isaiah 1:18

“Dear God, I want to remind You of Your great mercy and love towards all of us, towards me personally. Remember me according to Your love and patience; remember me with the goodness of Your heart. You are holy, and You never change, Your love remains forever. Amen.”

GOD IS GOOD - GRATITUD LIST WEEK Nr 1

This is my first gratitud list but I have fallen in love with the posts about the blessings in our lives.

And I think it's so important to know to be gratefull.

So even though this is not the beginning of the year, here is my Gratitud List for the Week Nr 1.

My son is coming back home on Sunday. He’s been away with his dad for two weeks and it’s HARD!

Our Chihuahua Bailarina, she sleeps with me at night and reminds me that I’m not alone but my furry family is here with me.

Teacher training is going amazingly. The special education teachers are showing off all that they have learnt in the past three years and they are making me so proud.

It has stopped raining all the time and the sun is shining. It’s hot and humid but it’s so nice to be able to see the sun and get the clothes dry.

Our trip to the beach, it was two weeks ago but it was such a nice, relaxing visit and I enjoyed it so much.

All my amazing friends, one of them just gave me a bottle of natural medicine she made for my knee (old injury from a sting ray that got a bit too close). It’s so nice to feel loved and see that there are people who care around me.

My blogs, I’m so happy with the success of my first blog and finally decided to start another one to organize the posts and themes better.

God is more than we can ever understand

In every religion there is belief in a creating force, in energy that surrounds us.

All the religions also recognize that there are two kinds of forces, the good one and the evil one.

Christianity is the belief that the good force, the Creator of the universe, is a supreme being who has a personality and will.

He is all that is good and in Him there can be nothing evil.

He is love and He made us because He loves us.

When we seek Him, of course we see Him in a way that we can understand Him.

We are humans, so we imagine Him like a human.

But it is essential to understand that He is not a human, He is beyond our understanding and not limited by time or space.

We cannot understand His nature or His thoughts.

If we could, He would be too small, too powerless to be a true God.

All the people form an image of god in their minds.

It can be a supreme overlord, a flail to their enemies.

It can be the nature, a mountain or the wind.

It can be a kind old gentleman sitting on a cloud, or a muscular Jesus armed with a sword.

In my opinion, all the images we create are wrong, because true God must be something completely beyond our understanding.

Of course when we look into ourselves and look for the message from God, for the meaning of what He wants and what our conscience says to us, we understand it all through ourselves.

It is only human but we need to always try to remember that God is more, much more than we can comprehend.

I think there is poetry in what Paul says in the Bible, that now we see like through looking glass.

The image that we have is not clear, it's distorted.

And when we put that image as the one and only True God, is when the trouble begins.

We start to put rules, make laws, exact obedience and lamentations.

We cannot be completely right, we cannot know the Truth.

Only God can do that.

Only He is perfect.

He accepts our mistakes because He loves us and He forgives us that pride.

But that is what we need to repent, the pride.

The thinking that we can do without Him, that we know everything, that we are right.

God does not seek lamenting, shouting and screaming, and public postulating and adoration.

He looks for the heart's attitude and our actions.

Of going out and helping people, of loving the neighbor, of giving what you don't need to others and keeping only what you truly need.

But actions alone are also empty.

We are not to do good to get to Heaven as a prize when we die.

The doing good is the consequence of loving God and having His love in us.

Of having God in us.

According to Christianity, evil is the absence of God.

Einstein said it well, there is no darkness, darkness is only absence of light.

Just like there is no evil because evil is only absence of good.

God did not create evil, evil is what happens where God is not accepted and people turn away from Him.

The rest is belief.

Either you believe that people were created by God and thus have a piece of Him, the eternity that He put in you.

And that is why we are able to do good.

Or you don't believe it.

Who is God?

I believe in God who loved us so much, even before making us, that He was willing to do all the sacrifices that were necessary to be able to be with us.

God who loved us so much that made this world that exists around us and is perfect for human beings.

Everything in it is what we need.

It may not be perfect anymore because the evil has come and the death has arrived.

It is not as He planned it in the beginning because we damaged it.

But even so He wants to have us back and make everything perfect again!

I believe it in authority.

I cannot understand it myself.

I can maybe grasp something but not really understand.

And the only way to know about something and believe it is by authority.

Just like people's beliefs about cells and brain chemistry, or psychology and physics.

Most of us haven't done any real studies about these subjects.

We haven't seen in reality how they works, under a microscope or made the calculus by ourselves.
We believe them on authority because someone has written a book about them, or talks about it in the TV or there is an article about it.

The thing about believing on authority is making sure your sources are sound.

And I trust my sources.

It is an old book but it has stayed the same during all these years and there have been people reading, talking, preaching thinking, and believing the same things for all these years.

Some things may vary, because people vary.

Not everyone understands the same way.

But that does not change the source.

And it's the source's authority that I trust.

We only have two options, either we accept Jesus as the Son of God, God Himself.

Or He is a lunatic.

We cannot say that He's a good teacher or intelligent philosophic, because He claims to be God.

He claims to be Salvation.

He claims to be the Only Way.

That is His good teaching.

There really only are two options.

Accept Him as your God and ruler; accept that what He says is the Truth and the only way to peace, joy and everlasting life.

Or call Him a lunatic.

And mock Him for what He said, and His followers.

Because the other option is too big, too scary, too magnificent and impossible to be true.

God is good.

He is everything that is perfect, good and loving in this Universe.

Einstein said that "There is no darkness. It is just absence of light. Just like the evil is absence of God."

The great tragedy of the world is that we think we can do it without God.

We think we are smart enough, strong enough, good enough.

But we are only prideful enough to not see how much we need Him.

How the world cries in agony for Him around us!

The evil you see in the world, the suffering present every day, is absence of God.

It is there because we have chosen not to let Him here and He has chosen to respect that decision.

That is what He did.

He gave us a free will.

And we are using it.

You can see it all around by yourself.

Our free will.
